Action RPG in the 40K universe

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is a premium action game from NeocoreGames. This role-playing game, set in the massive Warhammer 40,000 universe, lets you play as an Inquisitor. These specialized, clandestine agents are tasked with keeping the enemies of mankind at bay. Choose from one of multiple classes and embark on missions across the vast Caligari Sector

As a fun addition to the franchise, Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr plays like Diablo IV with its 3D isometric view and largely sandbox environment. Other similar games include Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.

Carry out the will of the God-Emperor

Set in the 40K universe, Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr lets you play as the titular Inquisitor. This lets you choose the particular unit you wish to be:

  • Psyker: Spellcasters attuned to the energies of the warp. They are capable of casting massively damaging area attacks and debuffs on enemies.
  • Crusader: Tank archetypes adept at wielding heavy armor and weapons. What they lack in mobility, they make up with damage and survivability.
  • Assassin: Stealthy experts in hit-and-run fighting. Their light armor allows for increased mobility but at the cost of defense.

Additionally, a Tech-Adept class has been added through the Inquisitor-Prophecy expansion pack. This 40K engineer can summon robots to aid in his or her quest.

In terms of world-building, it fits right in the larger lore. As the secret police for the Imperium of Man, you are tasked with rooting out Chaos worshippers and alien cells, this time within the reaches of the Caligari Sector. This location not only gives you more details about the franchise’s lore but also presents you with a wide range of biomes and set designs.

As a massive action-packed gameplay set in one of the most popular fantasy and sci-fi properties out there, this game is a definite treat for 40K fans as well as general action gaming enthusiasts. The only issue at this point is the minor inconsistencies following the game’s server migration. For example, lags can cause the player to skip animation for picking up items, causing confusion.

A great addition to the 40K franchise

Although the 40K video games are better known in the strategy genre, games like Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr explore the fictional universe from a different perspective—and do it effectively. This gives you a close-up experience as an Inquisitor, exploring and fighting otherworldly elements as an individual. Set against the expansive Caligari Sector, you get to learn more about the property in a visually immersive nature. Recommended.

PROS
